Calling all foodies, make sure you visit OC Night Market or 626 at least once! Festival season is here, no I'm not talking music. Orange County is full of amazing Instagram-worthy food. Bring the best of Socal and set them up at one event, you have OC Night Market. You'll spend hours here munching away. When you need a break because you feel that food coma, there are other things to do while you digest. Aside from the food, they have entertainment, giveaways, and cute things to buy.
Here are my favorite items from the June event:
Café 949 – Grilled Lobster with Garlic Noodles: Grilled right in front of you, Café 949’s lobsters and fresh and delicious. Finally, you can eat lobster without going to a fancy restaurant, They cut the lobster in half so you don’t have to crack it yourself. Pair it with some garlic noodles and a Vietnamese Coffee.
Ice Cream Garden LA – Rainbow Grilled Cheese and Potted Ice Cream: Ready for the prettiest cheese pull? Already cut to perfection, all you need to do is slowly pull the grilled cheese apart to reveal a magical rainbow of cheese! Save room for dessert because they also have cute ice cream pots! I got the strawberry shortcake one with a rainbow and teddy graham toppings. Underneath was yummy matcha ice cream.
Rolling Pho – Pho Rolls: One way to deconstruct the pho bowl is to take the noodles and leave them as sheets. Then wrap all your favorite pho ingredients to create amazing Pho Rolls! These rolls are dyed naturally and taste great too.
Sumo Dog – The Godzilla: Foot long all beef filled with spicy pork chili, togarashi cheese sauce, spicy mayo, teriyaki sauce, cabbage slaw, furikake and kizami nori, it definitely lives up to its name. This will get messy, but it’s worth it! Can’t wait to try all of their other fusion hot dogs.
Beach Live OC – Uni Bowl: Fresh sea urchins cut open and served raw, this is the perfect dish for the adventurous foodies out there! A scoop of rice topped with furikake completes the dish. This tastes like seafood heaven, salty and creamy, it’ll leave you wanting more.
Matcha Perfect – Matcha Ice Cream Parfait: This is literally the PERFECT matcha ice cream parfait. Milk ice cream at the bottom, with fruity pebbles on top of that, then a scoop of rich matcha ice cream and more fruity pebbles and gold flakes on top! To complete the dessert, a piece of waffle cone was placed on top.
Seoul Street – Bulgogi Tacos & Fries: The ultimate Korean Fusion food booth at all the night markets, Seoul Street has a variety of dishes using bulgogi! We tried the Spicy Wonton Bulgogi Tacos, which had the perfect crunch. Then we had The bulgogi Fries with crushed Hot Cheetos sprinkled on top with an egg. This has so much flavor and a good amount of heat!
An Choi Food Truck – Loaded Fries: Seasoned french fries topped with Korean BBQ chicken, bell peppers, onions, cherry tomatoes, and a sunny side up egg. The chicken tasted so amazing, it was perfectly flavored. This looked as good as it tasted, someone stopped me and asked where I got them.
Bakudan LA – Candy Bomb, Takoyaki, and Seafood Tacos: First we had a Coconut Slush Candy Bomb. It comes with a take home LED flashing cup, and it was topped with marshmallows, chocolate, and candy. Next we Tried their signature 3-inch giant takoyaki ball with octopus. After that, we had a pink Taco-Yaki, seafood tempura surrounded by crispy taco shell. This is your one stop for yummy seafood!
Sushi Sweets – Sushi Cake Bites: These little sushi sweets are next level cake pops! They sell them in super cute sushi containers or party boxes if you’re ready to impress your friends. Each morsel is rich in flavor and so fun to eat. They make their own vanilla extract!
The Dirty Cookie – Cookie Shots: SO many combinations of flavors and milk! We got to try the cookies and crème cookie, with vanilla crème inside. I love that you can customize your shot with an edible character on the front. Look at this super cute alien emoji!
Baked Dessert Bar – Cupcakes in a Jar: This is my favorite way to eat cupcakes because they layer the cake and frosting proportionally! They have fun flavors, especially for those who love Filipino sweets.
Squidies 626 – Lightbulb Drinks: Home of the original light bulb drinks, Squidies 626 shines through the rest. They serve yummy drinks in high-quality glass light bulb jars and attach a smaller bulb keychain, which lights up through the night. We tried Green Tea and Mixed Berry Slush and they were the perfect way to cool down from the summer heat.
The Milky Way – Ice Cream Tacos: The perfect summer treat, introducing the ice cream taco. I got to try the OOH BAE, purple yam aka ube ice cream topped with chewy mocha, coconut, and edible gold! YUM!
Shrimp Daddy – Dole Whip Float: Wait, this is better than Disneyland! Shrimp Daddy’s Dole Whip Float is topped with mochi and lihing powder, a yummy Hawaiian combination. If you’re like me, you love anything pineapple, but this is my favorite way to eat/drink it.
Wonton Nachos – YUM! An Asian twist to the classic nachos, this replaces tortilla chips with wontons. So full of flavor and crunch before you know it, the whole plate is gone. Very good for sharing!
My friends and I had an amazing time, thank you Holly at OC Night Market and all the vendors! Thank you to Andy, Hillary, and Luke for being my Foodie Squad.
